As of 1 April 2026, LocatED has formally transferred into the Department for Education, following the Cabinet Office’s review of Arm’s Length Bodies across government announced in April 2025. This marks the end of LocatED as a standalone organisation.

For those working with us, there are some important changes to be aware of. All former LocatED staff are now DfE employees and can be reached at their new email addresses on the education.gov.uk domain. For example, [email protected] is now [email protected].

Any Freedom of Information requests should also now be directed to the DfE.

Since our founding in 2016, LocatED has been proud to support the education sector across England. Over ten years, we delivered 1,265 advice commissions, completed 143 solar installations as part of the GB Energy Solar Programme, supported 7 education-led mixed-use developments, and managed 338 assets across the country. We are proud of what we have achieved, and we will take that expertise and ambition with us into the DfE.
